i kind of love this time of year. aside from the excitement of the lead up to christmas, and for us here in australia, the start of SUMMER… i love the feeling of excitement that brews up for the new year.

normally at this time of year i just focus on riding out the end of the year and then i give myself some space through january to start thinking about the new year, and set february 1st as the official start of my year #becausefebruaryisthenewjanuary.

but this year feels different.

i can’t wait! i’ve already started creating my lighthouse blueprints for 2017, and i have also started thinking about what my word (and my focus) of the year will be. and along with that, i have a strong desire to close out 2016 in a big way… to not just ride it out but to give it some thought, some weight, some careful consideration and ritual.

maybe it is because in numerology, 2016 is a “9 year” - a year of completion, finishing out a 9 year cycle that started with 2008 – which was the year that i started my business! well the first version of my business, which of course was the beginning of a pretty incredible, transformational journey.

right now feels like a very good time to explore what i need to be truly finished with… what i need to release, forgive, learn, celebrate, shift… what i need to complete now so that 2017 – a “1 year” and a new beginning to a new cycle – is truly the start of something awesome!

i generally do an end of year reflection anyways – i always release, remember, and celebrate – but this year i want to up the ante. i am curious to explore some new strategies, rituals, and exercises finish off this year of completion in a fun and empowering way.

what else can i learn about this year of completion and the upcoming new year and new cycle? what will help me to both physically and energetically set myself up for the best possible shining year in 2017? what will feel like a fitting, powerful end to a 9 year cycle that began with a little spark to start a little business?

i feel like there is something bubbling up under my skin and in my belly. i’ve been feeling it for weeks now, but so far it’s been a bit like a mirage… if i look at it too directly it disappears. perhaps the way forward into this next phase of my journey is to start by first finishing this phase… with grace, curiosity, and understanding.

i think it’s a sign! (music is always a sign for me.)

it’s time to create a powerful ending so that i may step fully into a new beginning.
